Dish Network via Summit Satellite ripoff breach of contract lack of service

Dish Network ad claiming "Professional and Reliable Installation" and Top Repair Service are out and out lies!

Number one, apparently they do not have any installation or repair service themselves. They work through Retailers, which are groups of individual technical businesses, that do the installations and repair work. This has two advantages: One is that they can claim that anything that goes wrong with the installation is not their fault. And if they are blamed, as they have been from my complaints to the Oregon Attorney General, they can then share the blame with others while also claiming they are not totally responsible. I don't understand how a company can claim Professional and Reliable Installation and Top Repair Service when they don't do the installations or repairs. They are, however, very good at making assertions that are untrue.

So, if you sign up with Dish Network, they contact one of their technical representatives to do the job for them. Now, this is like throwing dice at the Crap Tableyou will either be lucky or not. We were unlucky! We got an ornery, mean, inept, installation company: Summit Satellite. The installation was done wrong, they used substandard parts, and after 3-1/2 months, we had no TV! And it took them 7 days to fix it! (It was a $1.50 part that was not supposed to be exposed to the rain that caused the problem—they replaced it with a $2.50 part and tucked it under the eaves—and it took them all of 3 minutes to do so). And that is after promising to fix it and then not showing up two times in a rowalways promising to call if they couldn't make itwhich they also failed to dountil the third time—which was unscheduled. End. And, a Summit Satellite representative admitted that they have only ONE technician to service all of Washington and Oregon!

I wanted that useless piece of junk taken off my roof so I could subscribe to an honest and reliable TV service. But they (Summit Satellite) have a $240.00 penalty for early removal (you have to sign up for a year to get free installation) PLUS you must continue to pay the monthly fee until the end of your contract. Dish Network agreed to let us out of the contract then promptly turned around and said we had to get Summit Satellite to agreewhich they wouldn't.

Also, and this is true for all subscribers, at the end of one year, if you decide to not keep the so called years trial you have to disconnect and pack up all the receiving instruments and ship them, at your cost (I hear about $70.00), to Dish Network. So, in effect, the free installation is not really freeanother deceptive business practice.

When I suggested that they had committed Breach of ContractSummit Satellite told me that they did not think that 7 days without TV service constituted such a thing. Of course, they did not address the bad installation done with inadequate parts and the two whole days we spent at home waiting for repairmen (plural) that didn't probably did not exist and the ONE that did that didn't show up on time or call. Nor did they address the rude, nasty run-around that my wife got when talking to Summit Satellite representatives. They did, however, several weeks later, apologize for their rudeness, their lack of action, and blamed their technicianinstead of the person higher up in the company that scheduled him. Therefore, while we are in apologizing mode, let me apologize in advance for all the groups and individuals that I am going to tell about what I think are very poor companies to deal withafter all, I too am not responsiblethe devil made me do it!

So what does Dish Network really do? They make bargains and contracts with the actual satellite owners and the broadcasters. And they do one heck of a lot of false advertising. For another example, their ads say that they are the Best Consumer TV Service as rated by J. D Power and Associatesa consumer/business-rating group. This is another of their liesthey are second. Check it out for yourself at: http://www.jdpower.com/cc/telecom/ratings/cable_satellite/index. Jsp

If Dish Network had any ethics or business sense at all, they would remove Summit Satellite from their list of installers! And if Summit Satellite had any business sense, they would understand that it would be cheaper to accommodate dissatisfied customers like us by removing their equipment and letting the contract go.

If you feel real lucky and like to gamble, go ahead and sign up with these fraudulent companiesbut remember, with them, no one is responsible for anything!
