First I'm from Hong Kong. I've been US over 2 years. And I'm in 4 months in Orlando, FL I met the most rude person as a receptionist and human being in US. I applied for a stylist. Fisrt I apply with my resume and stated the fact that I worked in somewhere else to him. And I'm looking for a reasonable pay job too. ALl because I heard about the good things of this salon from other people, so I apply it.
Then I ask him about what the job and salary. He ansewered, "talk to the owner. (Repeat2 times.) If he interests for your application, he will call you. He didn't sound friendly to me. I thought I might miss to understand him since I might not express english perfectly. There were 2 cops in uniforms who were looking around. And then that day later Tuesday, I had a call from him which he wanted me to come on evening around thurday or firday for interviews.
I told him I need to be Thursday as I have work to do. He actually wanted me to come on Firday evening. He didn't sound happy about it. So Thursday, that's it. I missed hearing about the interviews time because of the phone connection. It could be me who missed hearing. I came there early at 4:30P.M. He said " The time is 6:30P. M What're you gonna do about it? Sitting around?". I glad I came early accidentally.
What happened next which he or anyone on earth should have no right to mistreat or said nasty me. I tried to step outside and called my husband. "This is not the only place on earth to work, not to mention a salon".'My husband suppoted me whatever I decided. My husband had test to take at school.
I went back which told him, "" the Tuseday I tried to look for a banking job Can the owner call me?". I took bus from the place I lived to there, around 1 hour per trip. He ansewered is "NO". I just said, "goodbye". And turn around and I left. Just one more step then I reach to the sidewalk. He went out the door and yell, "With your attitude, you can't find a job in any here" B& word (small voice B word).
That's really make me mad. The only one time I replied, " With your attitude, you're better stay there, B - word." I went inside and asked my resume back. He replied, " with my plessure". He gave my resume back say, "Have a nice day." I didn't reply. There are 2 female stylists in there. I spot there is no license of him in there and at table under the Flat screen TV. It has a ads which prints out they're hiring cosmetologist / barber and nail tech. It's a commision base before I asked him if his boss wanted to call me and I asked him again how's the job pay again. I want to see how he reacted. I didn't see all this in the first time. The sign outside accept the application for cosmetologist / barber and nail tech. The poor owner may wonder why no one answer his call and it make me wonder what happened to the last one who has this stylist job. I should pay more attendion If he told me about commision on payment, I won't give me resume. As an immagrant, it's a lot to adapt.
The main thing is not why I have't time for driving or if it's a lot moving in between. Or he simiply forgetst thatI have a job and he looks in the license I have takes longer time to finish. (Iowa is the higher hours standard of cosmetologist 2100 hrs. Florida 1200 hrs to be a cosmetologist) I was a student ambassdor and highist grade in scool. It's all list in my resume along with my 3 reference letters from my school teachers and 2 mentor programs and my phone and address which I gave to the guy.
The main thng is if he represents a standard of salon's people or us culture, it's a bad standard.in the banking of Hong Kong, there are investigators fom the bank headquarter to pretend a customer to see how the customer service of branch. Some thing like a big business like this, salon business, should have too. Whatever the relationship is between the owner and the guy receptionist, I don't think he'll make it to Hong Kong.
