I moved to CA Oct with my dog. I thought it's a good idea to have day care for him, so I searched online for one. Spots is the only one that opens when I can drop my dog off (they are actually 24/7). The place smells, but I figure with that many dogs, it's not uncommon.
One day, he came back with a limp. After a couple of hours, he was walking on 3 legs. I took him to the doctor, and they found a puncture wound on his paw. I called Spots, and they say they didn't see anything. Of course, later I found out, they probably don't even look at those dogs. There was nothing I could do to prove that he got hurt there, so I was stuck with the $1800 bill.
I know I was stupid enough to bring him back there. I had to leave town the past weekend, and that's the only place that would allow me to pick him up on Sunday. So I dropped him off Friday morning. When I came back to pick him on Sunday, they told me he is getting a bath. I didn't request a bath for him, but they said he was too dirty. When he came out all wet, I found yellow stain on his hair. I knew it was diarrhea, but I didn't understand why they didn't wash it off. I asked what the yellow stain was, and the guy say "I don't know". I took him home and tried to wash it off, and my dog was in pain.
I looked at it more closely; the whole anus area was red and wet! I called the place up, and one guy admitted that he had diarrhea and it's normal to have a dog to pee and poop over himself.
It's so clear that they let my dog had diarrhea all over his rear and didn't bother to clean it. The fact that they deny anything is very upsetting. They don't want any responsibility to those animals under their care. It coast me $173 this time to take care of the infection. The doctor said his skin was infected because the 'dirt' was on there.
I understand that it's possible for animals to get hurt and sick, no matter where they are. The fact the business would pretend nothing happens and just give back the animals to avoid legal issue, hoping the owners wouldn't know (or it's too late since the owners already take the pets back), it's just sickening.
We love our pets, that's why we take them to day care and overnight stays when we are gone. The business is there to make money; they don't care what happen to the animals, as long as they are alive enough to give them back to the owners.
If you love your animals and money, don't go there. You might get a sick pet back. We all know how expensive it is.
