I found this Alteration place as I was driving by and assumed it was a good place because it was a member of the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce but I was wrong! I went in and asked if she would be able to put a new strap on my bag which is an all black, BEBE bag, and the strap was all black. She said she would have to go to find a strap and it would be ready the next friday.
I went in on a Tuesday and so it was the friday this friday. I called on the following Tuesday to see the status and she said she still hadnt gone out to look but she would today. I called on Friday to see if I could pick it up and she said she couldnt find any straps that size (1.5 inches). She said it would take an additional week, I agreed, even though school was already in session for two weeks and I still had no backpack to use. I called the following wednesday and she said that she still couldnt find it.
I called several other times but she was never there or just avoided my calls, finally after a month had gone by I called her to tell her I was coming to pick it up and take it elsewhere.
She said that she had found one for 1.25 inches and she could put that on. I said okay and she said it would be ready tommarow. I went in today 9/8 and there was a black strap with silver stripes on it. She said "I thought this would be okay" without asking me or anything. I said it definitely would not be okay as the bottom part of the strap where it attached to the bag didnt even match the black and grey striped (it was solid black still) She then said I would have to pay for it and I refused. I was not going to pay for something I did not want or even ask for.
I took the bag off the counter and told her I was leaving. She gave me the finger as I walked out the door.
I then recieve a call over an hour later from the Scottsdale police and they informed me I could be prosecuted with shoplifting and assult. Apparently she told the office when I grabbed the bag it cut her and she had a cut on her hand. She is a tailor and normally they do have cuts. The officer told me to come in and let her take the strap off and she wouldnt charge me with the midsemeanors. I went in driving 20 minutes and when I arrived the officer told me he didnt believe the assult but he had to take her word.
She took the strap off taking the longest time she could and in the process she ripped my bag! A $70 dollar bag now ruined for her mistakes. The cop told me the only thing I could do was to take her to small claims court. What a horrible tailor, she lied to me and used something that didnt match and tried to charge me for it. She never offered to take the strap off while I was there. I was going to be charged with shoplifting and assult over her stupidity!!
