Rocky Mountain Reader Services Fraudulent Extortion of Money for a non-existing Popular Science Subscription

I am also being scammed by Galaxy Credit of Peoria, Arizona. We recently received a notice stating that our account had been listed with Galaxy Credit for collection, RE: Rocky Mountain Reader Services.

The only problem is that there is no account! My wife called the phone number on the notice to find out what was going on. She was told that she had ordered Popular Science Magazine by phone through Rocky Mountain Reader Services and that she refused to pay by phone but would pay if they sent a bill by mail. This was supposed to have occured on March 26. Almost 2.5 years ago! All is false! She never spoke to anyone about ordering a magazine. We never received any magazines or bills and now after all this time we get a collection notice.

My wife also spoke to "Ralph" at Galaxy Credit, who was very rude to her. He told her she could either pay over the phone right then or send check by mail to clear up the debt. She tried to explain that we never ordered or received any magazines but it just fell on deaf ears and he hung up.

I also called and spoke to Ralph in hopes of solving this mix up. When I began to question their methods he became very rude and short. I told him that this is fraud and used the Adult word for BS to described their collection notice. He responded by saying he didn't need to listen to my filthy mouth and hung up on me as well.

I called back, now speaking to "Demetrius", the manager. Explaining the situation to him was fruitless. I asked why we should have to pay for something we never received. He said that my wife had entered into a "verbal contract" by phone and that we were legally responsible for paying that debt. He would not give me the phone number or address for Rocky Mountain Readers, stating that their clients request to keep this information private. He also would not give me his last name because it was against company policy.in fact he told me I shouldn't even be calling them and that I obviously had not read the notice because the notice states that disputes should be sent in writing. The call was a complete waste of time.

I feel that Rocky Mountain Reader Services and Galaxy Credit are associated and working together on this scam.
I hope to gain the information I need to contact Rocky Mountain Readers and speak to them about this situation.

I also plan to contact the Arizona and Michigan Attorney General's Office along with the Better Business Bureau for both states.

I hope to be updated on any new information and would be pleased as well to participate in any legal actions against either company.

Thank You
