American home gaurdian warranty is the most evasive warranty company i have ever seen. We had a home that we leased from an individual who lives in california. About 1 week into the lease our a/c went out. It was the middle of summer in poenix, az. The outside temp was 118 degres, the house was upto 124 degrees.
We have two small kids 2&4. My wife left on thurday morning to do errands when she returned to te house at about 4pm and the house was nearly 109 degrees. I was at work so i imeddiately called the land lord to report the problem. He resopnded back with in the hour with info stating that he had called the home warranty co. To report the problem and that they would contact us with in the hour.
We never heard from the home warranty company. So friday eve i call the home warranty company repeatedly. I get a message from the recorder saying that it was the weekend and they were out and the message machine was full. We tried reletlessly all weekend long to get ahold of them and they were completely un-availble.
Sunday eve about 6pm i get a call from thad (the warranty administrator. He tells me that the property had not met the requirments for repair. I being in the industry dis agreed basicaly made him realize that i knew it was valid and all the requirments had been met.
So he guarentees me that he will put a priority stamp on it and have someone right out. 2 days i never heard from anyone. So i end up having to call their in house vendor consumer air who gave me the run around until the folowing thursday. At wich time they informed me that they would send some one right out.
Well 4 hours later and many ignored phone messages, i finally get ahold of the manager who informs me that becuase of the rain that had just started to fall they could not put their technicians at risk. I asked if they could scuedule me for 1st thing in the morning or if the rain stopped at witch time he informs me that the home warranty company had just barely put in the order and it was regular status. This meant that they would get to it when they could fit it in.
This happend 3 or 4 times in a row. Once we finally get a tech out o the house he spends 10 min looking at it and says he cant figure it out. Unbelievable.in the meantime the tech calls the warranty company to ask what the options are as far as what could be covered. All the sudden he has figured it out as soon as the warranty company tells him what they will approve. This type of situation happend another 4 times.
Finally we get a tech that is honest and straight forward tells us that the condensor was bad and needed repaced. Of course the warranty company tries the old "its not under coverages" well the time previouse the a/c tech. For consumer air had sold my land lord a maintanance contract. So that too was reluctantly honored.
Well to make a long story short. These two keep nickel and dimeing this to death. On the 2nd or 3rd time out it was concluded that the entire system needed to be replaced. They still are refusing to to the right thing. I have been 14 days out of the last 24 with out a/c. My poor kids suffer for it.
The friday before laborday the a/c company per the warranty company put in a new air handler instead of the proposed solution (condensor unit) 2 hours after they left the a/c went out agian. We were not contacted despite imediate notice given the entire weekend through monday and tuesday all the way to thursday. They dont considered that an emergency or priority.
Stay away from these two companies they could care less about the welfare of thier customers, and they have no intentions of doing the right thing.
