Inman Nationwide
Ripoff incompetent

Inman Nationwide is a company that preys on people when they are at their worst. They are one of the ripoff parts of the funeral industry. What they do is... Lets say you have a relative visiting Minneapolis. Maybe its your Mother. She lives in Pittsburgh Pa.By state law, the body must be embalmed before it is shipped via common carrier across state lines. The funeral home in Pittsburgh calls Inman.inman calls their contracted funeral home in Minneapolis to pick up the body and do the embalming and take the remains to the local airport.

When my Mother passed away, I brought a very recent (3 month old) photo of her to the hospital to accompany her remains. This is important because the features of the deceased must be fixed prior to the embalming process. They cannot be changed much if at all afterwards. When I arrived in Pittsburgh to initially see my Mothers remains, she was unrecognizable. Not because of any medical condition, disease, etc. But because someone did a VERY piss poor job of embalming her. Very very bad. Like as in the worst I have ever seen. She looked like a completely different person. It was Inman that had it done at their contract funeral home in Minneapolis Mn., the O E Larson-Osborne Funeral Home, 2301 Central Ave NE MPLS MN. 612-789-3571. I decided to be pro active and call the funeral home and speak to the embalmer to make sure that an intern would not perform the embalming.

I told them that if they were going to do that that I would have one of several reputable firms in the Twin Cities pick up Mom and take care of her. I was asured that an experienced embalmer would do the proceedure, and they were aware a photo was with the remains. Now, Inman charges the originating funeral home 695.00. What the hack do you expect? Only funeral homes in dire straights really needing business would be involved in this type of work for that amount of money. Remember they charge 695.00 so how much do they pay the funeral home that does the removal, embalming, shipping etc? I guarantee its a lot less than the 695.00 they charge! Remember you get what you pay for.

Additionally I was charged for ten death certificates which I never received. I demanded a copy of the embalming report which I am legally entitled to. They refuse to provide it. I am filing complaints with the State of Mn, The State of Ohio, and going to sue the b*tards, but P L E A S E be very aware of the psychological impact a real mess can have on your loved ones. I took every pro active approach and did what I could... But I will never forget the look on my Sisters' face when she first saw Mom. The only way she was identifiable was her wedding band. Entrust your loved ones remains only to reputable people.
