Direct TV
Ripoff

I was a loyal customer of DISH Network for several years and was completely satisfied. Than I was bombarded with mail circulars from Direct TV about a four-room setup for $29.99 any additional receivers at $4.99. The ads also stated subscribe today and receive a $50 Target gift card and TIVO DVR no mention of an additional charge. I already had several DVD players so the DVR player and gift card offer sounded great.

So I called on May 20th and secluded at date of the installation, which was on 6/1/05. When the installer came I asked about the DVR player and he said it wasn't on his order. That should have been my first flag. He installed the four systems and I told him at that time I only wanted 2 of the systems activated at that time because I didn't have televisions in the other rooms. I was planning to purchase 2 additional televisions in the future so I wanted the system installed at that time to avoid calling later and have another installer come out and install additional systems. He said at that I would need to call Direct TV and have them only to activate the rooms I currently was using.

This has been a total nightmare. I call Direct TV they tell me to call the sales dept. I call the sales dept they tell me to call a company called Web link I call web link and I'm having a conversation with someone in India that can't speak very good English so after trying to get my point across to this person with no satisfaction I asked to speak with his supervisor and that was even worse. He refused to give his name and his English was much worse. He kept trying to give me a DVD player, which I didn't need or want.

All I wanted what was offered in the ad which he had no idea of what I was taking about. After several calls I was then referred to call rapid satellite. The call was answered by someone in India again and their English was jus as bad or worse again they refused to give a name and tried to give me a DVD player. I have emailed the Dallas Morning News asking why they allow Direct TV to offer promotions for new customer and they have no intentions on honoring. I have even mailed my billed with payment and included a copy of their ad to their billing department as of today I have not received a call, email, letter or any explanation as to resolution to my situation.

Until today I thought I was the only person Direct TV has scammed. There needs to be pressure put on companies that intentionally go out to rip the consumer off.
