Ripoff Did not not delivery what was promised

I am so beside myself. I hope you will consider publishing my letter so some other poor soul with faith in a local business will not fall to the trickery I got caught up in.

I and a partner have a small business that we set up at Dog Shows and Craft Fairs. I took a diskette a couple of months ago to a local business called Signzilla. The owner of the business, Charlie Hyman, could not have been more of a gentlemen, and a great representative of customer service that I truly have ever seen. Between my partner and myself, we have over 45 years in the customer service industry. I spoke with Charlie at length about a sign for our business. He agreed to make the sign, and gave me a price. The day came to pick up the sign, and it wasn't ready. My husband, on his way to meet me to go to a craft show, stopped the next day to retrieve the sign. He still had to wait. The sign was to be 4' X 10' plasti board with waterproof lettering. My husband, being a printer, looked at the sign and asked if it would be waterproof. Charlie's wife responded and said no. Charlie quickly chimed in and said yes it was, he had sprayed it. Charlie and my husband proceeded to wrap the sign in plastic for it's trip to NY State. Arriving after midnight to my business partners home, all excited and proud of the unveiling of the sign, much to my horror and embarrassment, the ink had ran and the sign was unusable. My business partner said not to worry, she was just going to measure it to our tent for size, and I should return it for repair, and we would forgo a sign for the weekend's function. When she took it to her parents home that night to size it to the tent, it was two feet short.in the following week, I returned the sign to Signzilla. Charlie explained he just wanted me to have something for the show, and would redo the sign using vinyl lettering and make the sign to the correct size of 4' X 10'. After numerous e-mails and phone calls, the day came for me to pick up the sign. Charlie had closed Signzilla, but left the sign out in front of his store. Much to my dismay, the sign had all the correct information, but was still two feet too short. On Monday morning, I got on the phone to Signzilla and once again requested the sign to be ten feet in length. I suggested we add a foot extension on both sides, and e-mailed instructions of how to handle the extensions. Once again the day came for me to pick the sign up, and it wasn't ready. My son retrieved the sign the following day. I didn't check the sign till I arrived in NY State the evening before the show. The extension had been added, but not as I had instructed. I called an spoke to Charlie once again to repair the sign. The sign was dropped back to Signzilla Wednesday a week ago, again with e-mail instructions. I spoke with Charlie last Thursday and asked "would the sign be ready for Friday pick up?" He assured me it would be completed. I called Friday and said I was in route to get the sign. Charlie explained the glue on the sign was drying, and not to worry, he would be in the shop till 10 or 11 pm. I arrived to Signzilla shortly after 9 pm to find the shop closed. I called Signzilla and left off steam on the answer machine. On Tuesday, July 5th, I called Charlie and apologized for losing my temper, and If I stopped by with my FedEx information and account number, could he FedEx it to my business partner in NY State. He agreed. I arrived at Signzilla about 1 pm Tuesday to find the sign exactly the way it was when it was dropped off. Once again, Charlie covered himself and said he wanted to do something stronger for us. He showed me some type of pvc board, and was going to create a whole new sign, better and stronger. Meanwhile, he would FedEx the old sign to my partner. I sent a couple of e-mails, and made a couple of phone calls yesterday afternoon requesting the tracking number. Without any surprise, I called FedEx, and there was nothing from the Stroudsburg area sent to the recipient address I gave. I attempted numerous calls and e-mails to finally get a response from Charlie, stating there were size restrictions for FedEx. I ship packages all over the world daily for the Firm I work for. I made a call to FedEx, gave them the package dimensions, and they told me there would be no problem shipping the package.in twenty six years of dealing with the public, I have never come across a bigger bu* sh* artist as this man. I will now take my business to a professional, who will deliver what is promised. Shame on me for having faith in that local business owner.
