I completely dispute this Hospital Bill from Mease Hospital Dunedin located at 601 Main street Dunedin, FL 34698-5891. (727) 733-1111. The amount of $2,798.00 they show as charging me is completely outrageous. I was in a car accident where a woman backed out of a driveway and hit the drivers side of my car going at about 10 miles per hour. I did hit my head yes, but I did not go to the Hospital til the next day, on April 23. I drove to the Hospital under my own power.
I told themin no uncertain terms and in advance that nothing was broken. I was sore yes but nothing broken yet they went ahead, ordered and proceeded to do a Cat Scan and took a ridiculously high number of X-Rays. They ordered the X-Rays and Cat Scan against my will. I also told them that I didn't want a Cat Scan either because I had no insurance and couldn't pay for it, that I am a single mother of 4 children who doesn't get child support.
They knew I couldn't afford these outrageously priced procedures which was obviously crystal clear from my intake form already but I again told them I couldn't afford it. The Hospital told me that I could pay for these things out of an accident award... I told them I had had no thoughts about suing, I just wanted something for my soreness and I just wanted to be OK.
I highly resent the Hospital trying to do procedures on me knowing I didn't want them and couldn't afford them then having the audacity to give me "creative ways to pay their outrageous fees! Which ultimately would come out of my pocket ANYWAY. I thought they were a Hospital not a Car Dealership, Bank or Loan Officers!
As it turned out, the Cat Scan showed absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. The X-Rays showed that nothing was broken or fractured, which I already knew and which I had already told them in advance.
I was given a diagnosis of a concussion solely due to my having an occurence of smelling strange odors, like rancid peanut butter and bleach... I was given a diagnosis of "soft tissue injuries" due to my level of soreness. The Cat Scan and the X-Rays had nothing whatsoever to do with my diagnosis... At ALL.
I feel it is literally and figuratively highway robbery to take advantage of someone with a concussion who on top of that can barely afford rent and supporting children on their own with no help from the State or Government or their Father yet they set about doing expensive tests which were pre-declined by myself! I was informed that if I "Checked out before I was Checked out" that I would be leaving "Against The Hospital and the Doctors orders"! With a concussion I could hardly
make a good decision or even think straight for that matter.
I know the tactics this Hospital uses is a way to milk money out of people that cannot afford it. I could have gotten the same exact diagnosis from a walkin clinic for $65 that I got from MEASE HOSPITAL DUNEDIN for $2,798.00??? I strongly object to this. I want this off my credit report immediately.
I don't mind paying a "REASONABLE" amount of money, for time spent in the room and for the Doctor but like I already said, I completely dispute the majority of this ridiculous bill!
