HORRIBLE patient care by Dr. Davila and his office

I visited this office in late 2007. I needed to be seen about having my wisdom teeth removed. I had been suffering from issues with TMJ disorder and having my wisdom teeth removed was one of the first steps suggested by the TMJ specialist. This office was very close to my house so I went for it. Big mistake! I became Dr. Davila's patient.
They took x-rays and Dr. Davila reviewed them. He seemed very concerned about my wisdom teeth. Pointed out several "bad" things on my x-rays. He mentioned that I had cysts under my teeth and that because of the location of my severly impacted teeth I would need surgery in a hospital for sure. He said that the procedure would be much too difficult and that it would be best to have a CT scan so that he can best prepare for the operation at the hospital. So his office scheduled a scan for me at Kennestone Hospital. I happily went in February. I had the scan done and all was well... They sent me home with the very large x-rays.
I returned to Dr. Davila a short while later for him to review the x-rays and come up with his game plan for the extraction.in the mean time, I received a bill from the imaging center for $500 - what the insurance did not cover.
Upon review of the scan, Dr. Davila noticed that the x-rays were not correct. The images were far too small and he could not work with them. He didn't feel comfortable using them in order to decide how to extract my teeth without complications. He notified me that I would need another CT scan!
I WAS FLOORED! That meant I would receive another $500 bill all because his staff obviously ordered the wrong scan.
So I went back and forth with Dr. Davila's office and the imaging center over who was going to cover the cost of the 2nd CT scan. All in all this process took about 2 months. I finally asked Dr. Davila's office in a formal letter that they release me as their patient and credit me for the CT scan that they ordered incorrectly. However, their response was for me to contact the imaging center since they must have done the wrong scan. Totally pushing the blame off on someone else...
Of course the imaging center came back advising that they did what was ordered by the doctor's office, that they couldn't do anything for me, that I should go back to Dr. Davila about the cost of the scan.
I did decide to go with another surgeon (West Atlanta Oral & Maxillofacial surgery located off of Dallas Hwy - GREAT place!) since I was still suffering with the TMJ disorder and needed to have something done with my wisdom teeth and it had clearly been months with no resolution. The new surgeon had no issues with extracting my wisdom teeth. The procedure was done in their office, with normal x-rays. This was all handled within 1 month to 2 months. Fantastic service from them... What a breath of fresh air compared to Dr. Davila.
Meanwhile I am still paying for the erroneously ordered CT scan. It wasn't even necessary to begin with. My teeth were no problem to extract in a basic in-office surgery... Dr. Davila must not be very well experienced. The fact that they still had me pay for their mistake (their $500 mistake) is insane. Please beware patients, if you are asked to get a CT scan. You may end up like me!
