I received my phone bill, dated 12/7/04. The back page was a billing for USBI on behalf of One Call Communications. I had never heard of USBI or One Call Communications.
I was totally shocked to see the charge for one phone call of $44.58!! Then I saw that the charge/call was placed on 11/21/04 at 9:34 pm for 17 minutes to UNTD KINGD!
I do not know anyone in the UK and did not call the UK on my telephone or on the internet. I do not even have long distance service on my phone.
I tried calling USBI, the number on my phone bill 1 888 476 8724. They were no help at all and could give me no information - they were also very rude. They said that it was a legitimate charge, that I made the call on the internet and I would have to pay.
I then tried contacting USBI on line, and the same thing, no real infomation, They told me that they just do the billing for ONE CALL COMMUNICATIONS, BUT that they would forward my questions/complaint on to OCC.
When I never heard from OCC, I emailed USBI again and this time they replied that OCC said they would credit my account, just this one time and that I would be hearing directly from them (OCC).
I have now received my second phone bill and the phone call charge is still showing as not paid. AND I have heard nothing from OCC.
It is truly amazing that they can and are getting away with this illegal ripoff/scam. I am willing to help in any way to STOP THEM!!! This is really out of control.
