I opened a worldcom wireless account in November. When I did not receive a bill in the first 2 months, I contacted the company. I was told that billing would be initiated soon, that they were having some changes made in the billing process. I received two bills by the end of April that covered the first 2 months of my account.
Then, it wasn't until August that they started billing in 3 months chunks randomly, demanding immediate payment. Since November of they started sending very unfriendly "friendly reminders" threatening to charge late fees if I did not remit payments.
The beauty of this is that I sent regular payments within reasonble time after receipt of each billing. They got behind in processing my payments and stayed behind for months, not processing my payments until 2 and 3 weeks after I mailed them. This month they had the audacity to charge me a late fee. I have spoken with customer service several times since the start of the account, and always get the brush off. Tomorrow I will be faxing them a letter refusing to pay the late charge and demanding cancellation of my account. I have no idea how they will respond. You may be hearing from me again. MCI worldcom wireless is profoundly inept, and I suspect that they are underhanded as well.
Given the number of complaints against this company on the usacomplaints.com site alone, I am surprised there isn't a class action lawsuit filed against the company.
