On December 23, a telemarketer called me and told me that i had been selected to recieve 200$ in gas vouchers, which i still have not recieved, they told me they needed to verify that i had a checking account so that i would be able to pay the 3.95$ shipping charges, i very reluctantly gave my information to them as they made me listen to a recorded message saying something about 119.90$ charge for buyers union and Call One, which the telemarketers never mentioned to me, after asking them what that was, they said that it did not pertain to me, and assured me many times that my account would not be charged, and that i would have 30 days in order to cancel this Call One and Buyers Union before anything would be charged.
So reluctantly again i proceeded knowing i was probably being ripped off, but thinking that the worst that would happen is that i would have to call and cancel everything. I was wrong. Within a day of that conversation, i was charged 119.90 and twice charged the 3.95, money that i did not have, so the electronic checks were returned, and i was charged 66$ by the bank in overdraft fees, upon learning of this, i called the company and told them that they had misinformed me and i wanted to cancel everything, and after arguing with them for a while, i was told that all my memberships would be cancelled and i would be mailed a refund request form to get back the money i lost in overdraft fees.
Thinking that i had taken care of everything, and that i had only lost 66$ that would be refunded in a few weeks time, i went about my business as usual, only to find out that they had again charged me the 119.90 after i cancelled and was told that i would not be charged anything again. I have called the bank and they say they cannot reverse the charges, even though they are fraudulant, because i provided information over the phone, and legally that is authorization for them to charge me whatever they want to.
So now i have lost several hundred dollars from their charges and from overdraft fees as well, because i have spent money not knowing that they had taken all the money out of my account, as of now the bank will not even waive the overdraft fees, and i have just had to close my account and open up a new one, that has no money in it, and wont until i get paid again in two weeks.
I read on one of the other reports that someone was interested in filing a class action law suit against these companies, i would love to do that, im just not sure how i would go about doing that, but i would love to help in any effort to stop these people, and other scam artists as well. I just need to know what exactly i can do, because right now, because of these people, i dont have any money at all.
