My sister in Alaska ordered items from Gilt for my children for Christmas and had them shipped directly to me in New York. My daughter does not like (or want) the gift item she received. I called Gilt to inquire about exchanging the item, or getting a credit for future shopping. I waited on hold for 15 minutes before an agent answered. I was told I would have to open a Gilt account and CALL BACK with the order number before a return could be authorized. After waiting on the phone forever with the first call, I proceeded to open the account while the agent was still on the phone instead of having to make a second call. Shouldn't he have suggested this himself? He then took the order number and told me the item in question (a silk evening bag) was nonreturnable. No exchange, no credit. I'm sure my sister paid a considerable amount for this bag and it is unfortunate that she wasted her money shopping on this site. I had the account deactivated. Why would I ever shop on a site where items are nonreturnable, ever? Poor customer service, poor gift return options (none). Item not noted as non returnable on packing receipt.
