Ryder Moving And Storage
Storage and Moving Service, Inc. Ripoff scam fraud joke

First off, this company is a DBA for the real company Storage and Moving Services, Inc. This can easily be verified by checking out http://sunbiz.org and looking up the business name and the fictitious name. Storage and Moving Services and by-proxy, Ryder Moving and Storage is owned by Josh Socher. Just google his name and you will see numerous consumer complaintss under various moving companies. He has a very interweb documented footprint of all his various scams. Do not work with any company he is president of or affiliated with. Now, my story...

Storage and Moving Services, Inc DBA Ryder Moving and Storage acted as a booking agent for Progressive Relocation Systems. An agent by the name of Conrad Quinter and I spoke and discussed all the items in my 2BR / 2BA condo. I had just recently moved in so I rattled off all the recently acquired furniture as I would have to move from FL back to the state of CA. He then came by on a Sunday night to do an in home legally binding estimate. He provided me a quote of $2600 through Progressive Relocation Systems. The movers came this past Friday morning and said the price quoted was severely wrong. The move was quoted per cubic feet and I was quoted 583 cubic feet by the Moving and Storage services representative. The actual amount of the move would be 800 cubic feet which was equivalent to $1000 more!!!

I raised hell on earth and eventually settled for $3K ($400 more than my originally signed contract stated) only because I didn't want to have to go through the hassle of finding another moving company when I was all packed up. Progressive's settlement included the need for me to file a charge back on the amount deposited. They wrote my bank an email supporting the chargeback claim and we are still in dispute with them. Also, the standard amount required to book a move is 10% and Conrad charged me $650 — 25% and then Moving and Storage services took the deposit (their commission), never gave it or the move to the moving company and screwed myself as the customer over.

The worst part is — they won't even acknowledge their screw up by returning the deposit when they failed to comply with the legally binding contract. I have since filed a BBB dispute, Attorney General claim, a charge back with my bank and will not stop until every single person considering to move reads their unethical business practices online.

What a joke of a company — I was even told that this wasn't the first time Conrad or this company had done such a thing and they just let him continue booking moves like that.

On top of that, my furniture finally made it to CA and parts of my bed are missing, they scratched up my new hardwood floor, my dresser is badly damaged and my breakfast nook table will never see another breakfast again. I can't get anyone on the phone and they don't respond to email. I will be taking this as far up the ladder as I can go but as I understand it, Josh already has quite a few indictments he is dealing with. So, if looking to book a move with this company or any company that has "Storage and Moving Services" listed along with another company name (acting as a booking agency)... RUN!
