Normally I have good experience here but I have a complaint about the 'trainer' at Petco in Decatur AL. Just because I don't have Petco train my dog does not mean I am a bad pet owner!
I have a personal trainer I work with my GSD pup who is being trained as a service dog. Yes, she was excited in the store (still quite young) but she is very well trained for her age (five months)!
During public interaction my dog wears a behavioral collar (pinch collar) just for correction. Situation was, I was headed to the register with my purchase when a boxer dog growled at my dog and she barked at it. I tugged my dog back and offered a silence command. She did yip but it was more that she wanted to approach the dog.
At the register I had my dog in a lay down and stay. The trainer running the register was very coarse with me and accused me of being abusive to my dog and asked if she was being trained. I said she had a private trainer who happens to train with police and they recommended the pinch collar to which she said that was an aggressive method and she could do better. I paid for my purchase and left. I love my dog, she is like our child. What this woman said was very offensive to me! I will not be going back, maybe to complain but not much else.
My point is, if I had asked her opinion that was fine but otherwise it is none of her business. She was arrogant and rude. Not someone who's good for business.
