I received a letter from Netchoice Consumer Research Group offering me employment as a mystery shopper. Along with this offer they sent me a check for $3,888.37. This check was to be used as follows: 1.3 hours probationary training pay @ the rate of $100.00 per hour 300.00 2. Funds for shopping or Hotel Lodging 200.00 3. Service charge by Western Union/Moneygram 163.37 4. Required funds to be sent 3,225.00 I was expected to deposit this check in my checking account. However, I took the check to a check cashing business and was told that the check was counterfied. If I had deposited this check in my account, it would have caused my checking account to be overdrawn.
