Charlotte, n.C. Charlotte Mecklenburg Police said a man wanted for scamming promoters for tours and shows. He scammed one promoter in the amount of $80,000 for a proposed Chris Brown tour. He claimed to be Byron Bell of the Carolina Panthers and stated that he had already locked in a tour with Chris Brown and just needed $80,000 to solidify other expenses. Police released the name of a suspect, Christon Brewer, who is wanted for previous scams of a similar type. They have had a warrant out for his arrest since June, but have not been able to find him. Police said he is known to use the alias Byron Bell. Bell is a lineman for the Carolina Panthers. Bell said he had been the victim of an impersonator for the last year. According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, Brewer used Bell's identity to scam three victims for almost $100,000. Police said since the story broke last week, the department has received phone calls from other potential victims.
