I recently answered an ad in a local paper (Tampa Fl) concerning purchasing concert tickets to an upcoming event.
The ad was from Showmetickets.com The seats, acording to the companies web site were $300 each. I called the company and spoke to a representive about the tickets. I asked what else was included with this price as it is way above the face value price of the tickets. I was informed that the fee was for the tickets only.
I informed the representive that I was speaking with that in Fla it is illegal to re-sell tickets for more than the face value of the tickets $1. The rep tried to tell me that this sale was taking place in Ill and not in Fla.
From my past experience in internet buisness, I beleive that the point of sale is where the consumer lives, not where the office is located.
I sent an email to the corporate offices at showmetickets.com and received a reply back from [email protected] informing me:
Hello Mr. XXXX,
All of our Florida tickets are sold at face value but include a
package with a variety of items (t-shirts, seating charts, etc.) that
accounts for the premium prices. If you have any other questions please let
me know.

So a sales rep says one thing, when pressed the company says another. All in all sounds like a very shady deal to me. No I didnt purchase the tickets... Will take my chances at the gate
