Saturday 1/5/02, Leon Russell was booked to give a concert at Black Cats Saloon (owned by Ashley Capps). I bought tickets over the phone a week or two in advance. We arrived early to get a good seat. We discovered a long line because Black Cats would not let anyone in, including ticket holders. We waited in line 30 minutes (I was on crutches for a hip replacement a few weeks before and my husband requested I be allowed in to have a seat and he was refused)
When the doors were opened, the first 100 or so people got all the seats. There were also people saving two rows of seats. My husband had to beg to let me sit on a bar stool in the back by the door. He was told too many chairs had already been brought in. Huh?
Finally, the concert began at close to 9:00 with this boring little girl singer who sang droningly on for 45 minutes. Then at 9:30 Leon came on and the amps were up so high that the sound was distorted. The smoke had to have been a fire hazard with people in their like sardines and so many smoking. Not to mention the drunks who were there to get drunk and nothing else. It was all around a real unpleasant time. I won't go to Black Cats again. Deffinitely!
A.C. Charges way to much for concerts. This one was a bargain compared with what is charged when the concert is at the TN. Theatre or Bijou, then he charges upwards of $35 for anyone.
And I agree that it is difficult to get a refund for canceled shows.
