I am a harding working mom on a very tight budget. I Ordered an item from a TV info commercial for one of my children for Christmas last month. The person taking the order over the phone offered me 3 magazines of my choice for a FREE 2 month trial peroid. I was relucant, being on such a tight fixed income, magazines are not a necessity in our lifes. I even told the person on the phone that I really could not afford the magazines. She insisted that there is no harm in getting 2 months FREE of my 3 favorite magazines. Ater much reasurring from phone person that I would not be charged ever, at all, as long as I cancelled before the 2 month trial peroid. I finally agreed. BIG mistake. I was nervous about cancelling in time, so I marked the date on my calender so I would not go over the deadline. I called 1 month after that date, YES, I said 1 month, I did not even come close to the 2 month deadline because I was so concerned about having money taken out of my account. Of course the person on the phone tried to talk me into keeping the magazines, but again I firmly said no thanks please cancel. The person on the phone finally gave in and said my magazines are cancelled. I said to her, "Now are you sure, I can not afford to have even one penny taken from my account." She said, "Don't worry, it has been cancelled, you still had another month." I said, "No, just cancell now." End of story, you would think. Fast forward to about 1 month later. Paid all my bills for the month and had just a few dollars left in my acoount for the month to buy my family groceries. Went to store, filled cart, went to check out, all bags packed, my account card was declined. Not only was I embrassed, I was scared to death not having any food to take home to my empty cupboards. I immediately contacted the bank and was informned RMG Services took my last $90.00 out of my account leaving my balance at about. 53. Now I was furious when I realized what had happened. I dug out my contact info. For this company and called. Of course this all happened on the weekend and the RMG company was only available Monday - Friday, 9 -5. The hours I work, like most people. So I ened up sneaking at work to try to make this call, which may have gotten me fired, but I desparetly needed that money back on my account. Well everytime I was able to sneak in a call form work I would be prompted by a computer to answer all these questions, and then told by a recorded voice message, all customer service reps are busy call back later goodbye then got automatically disconnected. After 2 days of this, not getting anywhere, I actually had to take half a day off sick time from my job so I could just keep calling and calling and calling until I finally got through. Then after all that the guy on the phone gave me a hard time. I exampled everything, gave him all the info. And let him know how this was really messing with my life now and my childrens lifes. I have no food, could have been fired from my job, had to take sick (unpaid) time from my work just to get my money back to my account. He just laughed! I told him I was going to report all this about this company to the attorney generals office and consumer reports. He just laughed again. Finally after talking to several people they assured me my account would be credited but they only run credits once a week! I told them I have no money, my kids have no food. They just said it takes this long ther is nothing I could do. They should have never taken this money out. It has been days and I still have not received the credit. It may not sound like a lot of money to some folks, but to me it is life. What can I do? Has anyone else had bad experience with this company? I could only imagine the hardships this kind of business dealings does to folks.
