I am 18 years old and border line foolish. I answered the phone few months ago and there was this guy who offered me free magazines. So I said sure and he took my information down and then asked for a debit card to recieve the "free trial" I gave it to him then when he said that I would be billed each month 29.95, I said no thank you.
He proceeded to quickly tell me of other offers and I said no thank you, no thank you, I don't want the service. I had changed my mind. This was a recorded phone call - (so they say) but, yet he still processed the order. I did not recieve any magazines so I did not think anything about it until I saw my bank statement.
They took a payment out and my account became overdrawn! (I am a poor student) I called my bank to stop any further charges from being taken out. But still the next month again, I was charged which made another check in my account bounce, So I cancelled my debit card. Then the phone calls started. Every agent I spoke with I explained the scenario to and I told them I want out.
But each one just argues with me. Now there are tons of magazines coming, even though I cancelled withen the 10 day period. I have told them to quit calling me and to leave me alone. I spoke with someone today who said I never cancelled. She said that I was lying and if I don't pay they will ruin my credit. I am not allowed to cancel, because it was now after the 10 day trial and I am bound for a year. I did cancel before the 10 day trial, when I said back in Nov or Dec I did not want the magazines.
Will this go against my credit now? I have witnesses who heard my side of the phone call. I don't know what to do.
