Terrible service, scratched DVDs

I do not rent movies every day, but when I do rent them I will get three or four at a time. The last three times I have rented from this store at least two of the DVDs have been scratched so badly that I couldn't watch them. When I try to exchange them I have been met with rudeness by the employees who would rather sit outside and smoke or talk on the phone than help me out, and twice they acted like it was my fault that the movie was scratched. I asked them why they did not check them when they were returned and they said, "we don't do that." I then smarted off about their 25 cent playguard that is supposed to be a sort of insurance against damaged movies. How the heck are you supposed to know who scratched them if you don't check them when they get turned back in? A couple of months ago I refused to rent from them anymore. Last week I got a message on my machine telling me that it had been over a month since I rented a movie and they would like to give me a free rental, so on Saturday my wife and I tried to redeem this rental to give Movie Gallery a chance to redeem itself. I was told that the message was from July and that the free rental was expired. I left the movie on the counter and walked out. This is a terrible establishment with even worse employees and practices. I will go to Blockbuster in Palestine before I go into this Movie Gallery ever again.
