I ordered an item off kohls.com for my friend's wedding present, as she was registered there. I shop there all the time and did not think much about ordering an item off of their website. I entered in my credit card info and it told me they couldn't match my 3 digit security number to my card. So I re-entered it as well as some coupon codes. Again it told me declined. Finally after 4 tries it accepted and said I would be emailed a confirmation and receipt. 3 hours go by, no confirmation, so I check my online banking for a withdrawal from them and sure enough - they withdrew from my account FOUR times. Every time there website claimed it was declined, my card was charged. I called the 1800 number and they claim these are just holds. To be safe I called my bank as well and they do show up as pending credits that were declined transactions.
Even though it seems like I will be credited back - the guy at Kohl's tried to tell me that I got lucky that I had the money in my account. No-he got lucky.
I was considering Kohl's for my own wedding registry but now I am definitely crossing them off of my list.
