I live at apartment B108 since 1991 and have had numerous floods to speak of, probably in the ball park of 6. The first floods were water heaters and broken pipes that left me using my renters insurance to replace all my furniture, The floods were bad enough that the fire department were called in. The last two floods were from my backed up kitchen sink that flooded my entire kitchen and dining room with sludge from the apartments above. The ritual is I call them after comning home from work and the emergency maitanence department comes within a l5 minutes, a plumber is called along with a carpet cleaner to remove the sludge and pull up my carpeting and everthing has to be fixed and cleaned. This night I came home and once again I called the maitenance emergency number (it was after hours). No one came, I called back a half an hour lafter, as I was working with pots to remove the flowing water that was overflowing from my sinks and racing to take the water out of the sink. The water was winning. I called back the emergency number and they said the head of maitenance hadnt even called them back (them meaning the nite service). I had the phone number of the carpet cleaner that has been sent out to me everytime in the last l5 or more years that these floods have occured. He came out as soon as I called him. Still no one from the development called me or came.
They have recently changed over employees in the office and the head of manitenance. The head of maitenance's name is Mike. It took Bill the carpet cleaner to call Mike. Mike never came.in the past the head of maitenance always was there first. Mike just called a plumber. He never even came to see the flood or even to call Bill the carpet cleaner who has the hose that extracts the water out of the sink until the plumber shows up. Bill had his number and called him and Mike said he was having trouble getting a plumber over to me, all this time the water is running out of the sink into my apartment, The plumber eventually came at 9:30 when the carpet man advised Mike, the head of maintenance, that I had called the fire department and spoke with Scott Nebrasky and was ready to make this formal complaint. It is now 11:30 and I am sitting here taking a break before I have to clean up my kitchen from all the food and gruge that is now on my kitchn floor and in my counter under the sink. The apartment complex knew of this problem but only cleaned up my apartment, they never cameraed the pipes underground to see where the problem is coming from or where all the food is becoming stuck from the apartments above me. I now have to take off from work tomorrow to see what they will do. They never compensate me for taking off from work or cleaning my apartment back up or replacing all the things that get ruined in my kitchen from these floods. I was advised to call Bill Burns, chief of the Public works department so that for once they take care of fixing what needs to be done so that I dont go thru this every 6-8 months.
I am now formally making my complaint. The complex needs to be advised by you to fix this so it wont happen again and again. My name is Cindy Schlussel, I have paid my rent on time since l99l. The owners are called Beech Hill Development and I want to makie a complaint with them too because I dont know if they realize I have had countless floods in my apartment and all they do is have a carpet cleaner come in. Last year I had a problem with MOLD from all the floods and they sent a mold guy in but never paid them for the report so nothing was ever done. I am at my witts end and cant afford to pack up, put down new deposits on another complex. I work 9 hours a day and everytime I take time off for these floods I dont get paid.
