Carpet Installment

This was a nightmare of an experience. The sales rep of this co had been with the co for approx 1 mth and was very professional. She brought in samples of the middle level quality of the carpets the co offered which was the one we ordered. We wrote a check for $718.55 and were informed the other half would be expected on date of installment, May 24th.
On May 24th at 2pm when I had not heard from the co. I called to inquire about the installment. The secretary said she knew nothing about it and had a manager call me. A woman called to inform me that the installment was scheduled for the 27th. I became angry and told her that was impossible, that my contract was dated for the 24th, had all my upstairs furniture downstairs, had family visiting from out of town arriving that Tuesday and I needed prior to Tuesday. She stated she would have her manager call me. Mr. Tom Ward called stating he had spoken to my husband the previous Thursday to ifnorm him of the possible delay. Since I had no prior knowledge of this I argued that it was not possible due to my circumstances. This man was rude, unprofessional and sarcastic. When he told me that the carpet we ordered was in Georgia I became furious and hung up on him. I then called my husband who said Mr. Ward lied about speaking with him and immediately left work to begin making some calls. He spoke with Mr. Ward who then directed him to his manager Mr. Henry Jaffe who never returned our calls. I then placed a call to Debbie, the co rep who I signed the contract with and left a lenghty message which she never recieved. Mr. Ward informed my husband that she had been let go.
On Tuesday the 27th a husband/wife team came to install the carpet and not a group of 4-6 men with 10-15yrs experience as promised. When I got home from work I noticed the quality of carpet did not appear as the one we ordered and the installers informed me that this was the lower level of the 3 carpet types the company sold and not the middle level that we ordered. They also informed me that the carpet was never in Georgia, it was in the warehouse the entire time. I informed the installers that I would not be paying the last half of the payment and I wrote on the evaluation form that I would not do so until someone came to inspect the quality of the carpet and confirm this indeed was not what I ordered.
Mr. Henry Jaffe calls on Friday, May 30 to inquire about the problem and I tell him everything. After a heated discussion he threatens to place a lien on my home. He seemed to be concered about one thing and that was the money owed. I told him he could come over that same day to check the carpet and he said he could not do it... We agreed for the following Tuesday, June 3rd... That same evening the installers come knocking on my door to inform me Mr. Jaffe garnished the amound of money we owed his company out of their wages!!! The next day I recieve a letter that indicated I was refusing to allow him acces to my home!!! Mr. Jaffe came over our home today, June 3rd and after inspecting the carpet stating it was indeed the carpet we ordered and that for $200.00 he could replace it with the higher level quality. When I refused he then said it was a carpet defect and would have the carpet company come to inspect and reimburse us if needbe. He would not agree to our proposal to accept half of what we owed. We did this only because we are so fed up, tired and sick of this horrifying company. Both my husband and I have gotten physically sick over this experience and want it to be over! If there is anyone out there who needs help with any of thier process we will stand by you. Diana
