I worked many jobs in the past 47 years. I always took pride and ownership. Did what I would do if it was my company. You fired a worker for trying to stop a theift. She worked for you for 18 years. I applauld her. You should rehire with all benefits and senority. Explain to her exactly what you think she did wrong, and give her training to let shoplifters go.
