Linkedin.com
Unprofessional

Linkedin promotes itself as a professional site but behaves just the opposite. The reality is that linkedin acts more of a social site then a professional site. When you read the rules on how not to behave on linked, you will find people without trying to find them that abuse the rules of linkedin.

My problem with linkedin is a few days after I had joined linkedin, I started to get harassed by a marketer on the site which was a female (on a side note, this remark will come in play at the end). After I confirmed to what I believe that this person was trying to just get more clients, I tried to communicate in a professional manner and only got insulted for my effort.

After I tried to understand why this person chose to insult me, I felt it was needed to have this person reported to linkedin. After waiting through the weekend since they dont work on the weekend, I found out they said they are looking into the problem. And made a small note that my account was restricted.

To this day I still dont know why my account was restricted and I do not care anymore. I tried to get confirmation on what I did supposedly wrong. I am human, I can make mistakes like anybody else. After two failed attempts to acquire why my account was restricted, I was fed up with dealing with the I know and wont tell person from linkedin. The only thing they stated to me was that I need to agree to the terms of linkedin. Here is a question for anybody. Is there a website where you can join and not agree with the terms and conditions of a website? I never joined or have seen a website that you could do this.

At the end of this mess which I will repeat took less then a week, I demanded that linkedin remove my profile because I want nothing to do with a site that claims professionalism but can not act accordingly. I will point out one thing on behalf of linkedin, the last person who e-mailed me agreed to my demand and pointed out how long their site will take and for other search engines would take. This is the only professional person I dealt with on behalf of linkedin.

I stated earlier that I would specify my use of stating the problem started with a female and here it goes. I talked with other people about this issue giving all details I could and the only response I got as why I was treated like this is it sounds like the person I complained to on linkedin was another female and made a sexist judgment on the situation. As much as I dont want to believe this to be the case, as much as I looked over the situation, I could not see a different reason why I was treated this way. Is there a different reason this happen? Deep down I think so but I have no reason to believe it.

For everyone who thinks of joining linkedin, understand what can and most likely will happen. People use linkedin like a social site like facebook, twitter, etc. They will act as crazy as any other site. Linkedin does have a paid service on linkedin. As I have read if you pay for a service, they can and have remove you from linkedin shortly after taking your money. If you have complaints on linkedin, they might just treat you as they did me so you are warned. If you lose money then I told you so.
