I am a Dad who put himself on child support with the State of Maine. I payed in hundreds of dollars in supposed back child support. 500 to be exact. I got no receipt of payment, was told it was taken care of, and lo and behold, there goes ANOTHER 500 dollars out of my federal tax return from 07!!! From money that was never documented as payed. I called them up, and was told no problem, just send in the copies of checks. Okay, fax the copies, no problem. No response. Call the agency night and day, NO RESPONSE. I did my homework, brought it up in court, and where am I now? BEWARE! There is no one on your side, not even your supposed "caseworker". Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with paying child support, but this is ridiculous, people!!! If I overpay a company, I can get the money back, overpay the State, and good luck, buddy! Maybe it could be because the state of Maine is in dire straits? They have to cut education money to keep this place afloat? Who knows, really?
