They are a ripoff. They had a real big sign outside saying $5 to join and $25/MONTH-NO CONTRACT. If this was not true, could this be false advertising? I wasn't feeling all that great because I was just getting over the flu and not in my right state of mindframe and maybe that is bad business - but since I just moved to the area I was putting on some weight and decided that I needed to join a gym. Since there was to be no contract I figured, what the hey, if I don't like it I can cancel anytime. When it came time to sign the paperwork I asked them if they were sure that there is no contract and they said no. I kept repeating myself and saying are you sure and they said again no commitment. Only $5 down and $25 a month. They said sign by the place that says $25 a month. So trusting them I signed where it said $25 a month.
This month I had a couple of financial setbacks. My fiance lost his job due to sizedown and so I had to pick up his half of the bills. Well, I noticed that my checking account got too low and decided to call up and cancel since I didn't go as much as I would like to have because I ended up working 3 jobs. I called to cancel and they told me that it would be $90 to cancel. That I had signed a 2 year contract with them. I told them no but they do have it in writing. They said there was nothing I could do and that the longer I waited the more I would owe. You see, the $25 is for a 2 year commitment and the $35 is for non-commitment - only they fail to tell you this when joining. Needless to say I did not have the money and my bank account bounced more than once.
Also, when I was trying to cancel if you go to www.LucilleRoberts.com, there is an 800# right on top.
It is 800-USA-Lucille. Everytime I tried calling that # it would say, "The # you have reached, 610-292-8770 has been disconnected. No further information has been provided on 610-292-8770". Only I did not call that number, I called the 800 # and more than once to see if I was dialing it right. Now if someone needed information on that company, say they wanted to join, wouldn't that make for bad business and for those of us who need a # wouldn't that be some sort of false advertising?
They made me feel like an idiot instead of a woman sure of herself.instead of helping with my self esteem to be high - they have managed to bring it lower. I know that not all companies are bad-At least they are more up front on telling you their fees. Others will reel you in on 19 down and 19 a month, but then they say here are the exceptions and rules if you want a full membership it will be 69/down-69/month for 1 year, 3yr, or 5yr, which can you afford at that time my reply would be never, but at least they give you the chance to say that.
Also when I called they ended up telling me that I was the ignorant one that I knew what I was signing even though I was just trusting - never again. They ended up hanging up on me and I feel that I have definitely learned a lesson. Never trust anyone, never sign anything on what they say without reading fine print and triple checking and never sign anything with a headache or when you aren't feeling well. Because then you are not paying attention you are just listening to them and trusting them - take it home to read or postpone the meeting until later.

My advice - if they are on the BBB and if all of these other people are on here, it's not good to believe everything you read or hear but maybe you want to do your own background check and see what is really up - it won't hurt but it just might help and save you some money. The people I have dealt with were really pushy - but nice to get your money and then rude after. Just be careful. Once again thank you.
