My husband is a wrecker driver. His employer has sent him to Louisiana to help with the clean up. These ungrateful jerks are doing everything under their power to hamper these efforts. First of all, EVERY out of state wrecker service is being pulled over in New Orleans and harrassed. None of the local companies are. Second, The sheriff of St. Bernard Parish has issued an order that none of the wrecker drivers can enter the area before 8 A.M. Even though there is a dusk to dawn curfew. Last time I checked, dawn came around 7:10 A.M. He has to haul at least 4 vehicles a day. It is at least 100 miles from the yard at Co-Parts in Livingston. Then it is another 30 Minutes just trying to find the vehicles and another 100 miles back to the yard.
With traffic and all the accidents on the bridges this makes it almost impossible to haul all 4 vehicles and be out of the area by dusk. You would think they would be grateful for the outside help since it would take such a long time to get this mess cleaned up on their own but, that is not the case. None of the major news networks will even report on the STUPID things the lovely government down there does. So, I thought I would put this on here to let all of you know what is really going on down there.
