About one month ago, I've received an registered document from an unheard company named The Sweepstakes Audit Bureau. It stated there is $12,000, 000,000 of unclaimed sweepstakes money and I was a potential winner. There was also a $5 processing and data fee (which I didn't really understand) and had a deadline of December 19.
With me being a complete dummy about this, I accepted it and sent an $5 money order and the claim form to the P.O. Box and city/state it was sent from by the deadline requested. Three weeks passed and now an "non-negotiable" check of $10,000 has been sent to me BUT it is also requiring a $19.95 fee... Red flags are raised from me and from doing my research on this company, I see that it is an obvious scam based on other consumer reports about this company.
If you receive anything stating you won money and/or prizes and also ask for an fee, do your research before continuing because it's most likely a scam!!!
