Samsung captivates product

We own 4 Samsung Captivates. Two are dysfunctional thus far, one was not under warranty but when upgraded to Gingerbread OS according to instructions, phone was locked in Landscape Mode and could not be recognized by a PC. Tried Hard Factory Reset to no avail, spent days researching the web but nothing worked although many were experiencing similar problems.

The 2nd phone we verified was purchased this past July and should still be under warranty. Samsung verified over the phone that it was, but when we sent it in to them via their instructions and pre-paid UPS Label, they claim is was NOT under warranty and wouldn't fix it. Their email to me said nothing was wrong with the phone, but they were going to flash the OS and couldn't so they needed to replace a part that was going to cost $70. The phone would cut off randomly on it's own, drop calls by turning itself off and other curious behavior, it was a defective phone and Samsung would not fix it or replace it under warranty. So, we don't have time to spend the rest of our lives fighting with them, so we upgraded one phone to a Pantech and the other to a Motorola. We're now waiting for the other two

Captivates to become defunct. If Samsung would read the forums like I have, they would know that the phone is not a good one. AT&T even admitted that there was a bad bacth of Captivates and they had been a nightmare to them.
