AM/PM Auto Body & Towing NJ License #03415A
Consumer Report

This complaint also involves GEICO INSURANCE. I was in an accident on Sep. 14. I was hit broadside on the driver's side of my vehicle. The vehicle was towed to this business. GECIO, which is also at fault here, did not inspect my car until Sep. 25. At this point I chose to go to the yard to speak to both the repair shop & to Geico first, to see why it took so long to inspect it & then also to find out about the damages. First the GEICO rep called me before I got there and stated that the repair shop was not a certified GEICO shop and that it would be best to send the car to one of their shops to have it repaired as he said the shop was basically not reliable. When I got to the shop I met the owner and he stated that he would beable to to the repairs and why move it if it didn't have. My mistake for believing him. SO after both he & the GEICO rep went back & forth for quite awhile about the damages, they finally agreed ona price to repair the vehicle. At this point, I left happy thinkg my car would be ready in about another week or two. After about a week, I called the shop & spoke to Steve, the owner and he stated it would be ready in a week, which would have been a Wednesday. I called him the day before to let him know that I was coming the next day and he called me back and stated that it would take another week. At this point we're a couple of weeks into October and my rental vehicle was about to be up. I asked GEICO for an extension and they refused saying my time was up and they would not do anything to help since I chose this repair shop. At this point I tried getting anyone at GEICO to help me but no one would. I then set up a meeting with both a GEICO supervisor & the shop to find out why my car wasn't repaired. At this meeting both the GEICO rep & the owner just kept arguing back and forth blaming each other for the delay. We took another look at the car & it was decided that the car would be totaled as there were hidden repairs to be done. GEICO had given the repair shop over $8000.00 dollars to do the job as that was the original estimate. GEICO, after getting the car and inspecting it, decided that the shop, with parts & labor was due about $4000.00. GEICO asked for their $8000.00 back and they would then issue him another check for the amount they say he was owed. HE refused and GEICO told me that I would be responsible for the rest.
