The company posted on my school's online job board that it was a sports marketing company.in reality, they are a direct (as in door-to-door or face-to-face) marketing company that requires its employees to walk around a Home Depot all day and approach customers in an attempt to pitch them on "high-end cabinet refacing." The pitch that each sales associate uses is misleading in that it stresses the low-cost and high-quality of the refacing, when in all actuality it is significantly cheaper to replace cabinets completely.
Further, the employment structure is similar to that of a ponzi scheme. First you learn the pitch and go out into the field, then in order to advance, you have to bring in and train people to be on your "team." They train people for their team and so on. Unrealistic goals are set and one cannot advance until they are met. Honesty is not emphasized as any negative comments, no matter how truthful, are grounds for reprimand. They even talk poorly on education, and the pursuit of knowledge in favor of entry-level sales. Everyday the boss brags about his "$300K raise" and "chilling in mansions in California" while most of his employees can barely afford to eat.
Finally, they require their sales teams to drive up to two hours away to some Home Depot locations, while also dropping off others along the way. There is no reimbursement for gas and team members are supposed to "throw you $5" which we all know barely buys a gallon.
