I checked my bank account yesterday 10-31-12 to find a $29.95 USD charge on my account. There was a number that was not in sequence with my checking account numbers and I called my bank to find out what this charge was. The member service person gave me the number of 877-886-0144. I called the number and the person told me it was a subscription to some check verification and I had authorized it. I told them I knew I did not authorize any such subscription and they needed to debit my account. The gentleman told me it would take 3-6 business days to get corrected. I told them they were going to throw me into an overdraft if they didn't put my money back.
This morning I called the number back after several attempts to check out the information on the internet and I talked with a gentleman by the name of Gene. I asked him what was this company and he gave me some line about some check verification. My response was that a person could be charged this without them knowing and he said it would have to be authorized. I asked him where he was located and he told me in St. Louis Missouri. I asked him if there was a website I could check into their company and he told me no. He said the owner's were in London, England. I tried googling that as well with no luck. After several google attempts I did google the phone and found this website to file a complaint. I will be contacting my bank this morning to make sure they are aware of this scam.
