Bill Me Later
Division of PayPal Bill Me Later embeds billing statements in emails alerts to spend more money and distract from the statement and payment due!

I used Bill Me Later in the past and all went well. However, this past spring, I used it again for a couple of small purchases. When they sent me the Bill Me Later email that should have been clearly noted as a billing statement, it was disguised as an opportunity to spend, and therefore, owe more.
When I started receiving automated phone calls, the voice mail left only said, "I am calling with some important information about your Bill Me Later account", I thought it was regarding the new notices/practices that were described in an email previously sent. I disregarded them as it said nothing about a payment due or overdue.

Finally, I called and realized that I had a payment due. I paid the first charge for the product that I had recognized along with a late fee. The 2nd charge was not clearly identified, and I questioned what it was. A customer service rep could not help me to figure it out. So I did so on my own, and then paid that amount as well as a interest payment.

I wrote a letter explaining what had happened, but received an adjustment for only one late fee. I wrote again with payment of one more late fee and interest and again, asked for this to be considered payment in full, and if not, I would close my account.

Well, they closed my account, but told me they would keep billing me for the multiplying late payment fees. I informed them that I would not make any further payments as I had payed for my purchases, interest and late payment fee. Their unwillingness to resolve this conflict is unreasonable, unjust and unfair to those who are financially vulnerable and they need to be held accountable for such business practices.
