I Listed an Acer Laptop on Craigslist. I was approach via phone text messaging only for the purchase of that laptop for a colleague of theirs in Nigeria.
I send them a money request from my Paypal account which is still pending for $575 plus they added an extra $100 for shipping.
I was receiving mail that looked exactly like payPal would send me. So yes, I mailed it because "PayPal" mentioned that, to protect me and the buyer the funds would be released once the tracking number is verified. So I text them the tracking number. Then I received another Email from Paypal telling me that their server would be down for a day and that the funds would not be released for another 24 hours.
Then I received another Email from "Paypal" asking me to send a Western Union payment of $300 to the Nigerian customs to a Mr. Dada Olalekanto for the release of the laptop to a Michael Johnson and that I would get it back plus $100 for a total of $1075.
That last part I did not comply.instead, I contacted Paypal who assured me that this was in fact a scam.in order for me to get my Paypal shipping postage of $66, I would have to make a stop and return to sender move. I tracked the Laptop in NYC. Being from Las Vegas, I woke up at 4:50 AM to call the Post office in NY at 8AM EST. They told me the laptop had already left the country.
They suggested I find a website like this one to help me.
