Several Cities & Counties have adopted a way to Put pressure on Individuals that have Unpaid fines, First it is to Lock you up and Make you serve time, then to Ruin credit Ratings and Harassment from collection agencies! I had served several Months In The Milwaukee House of corrections Because the Judge had ordered me to serve a certain amount of days for each fine, if I was not able to pay on time!
There was no note from the Judge on the records that mentioned anything about still owing the fine after the commitment was served, back then, when you didn't pay you sat time! The Commitment was done and the debt was satisfied! Now they are including the Old Past cases, in there revised plan to keep Badgering people for their money! This is not only illegal, as it is called double jeopardy, it is also unconstitutional, it was beyond what the judge had ordered at the time of sentencing.
I look at the records today and a sentence has been added to the end, that was not words of the judge at the time of sentencing! The sentence added is this: any unpaid amt. Remains due & owing subject to collection. Just the Filing this with a collection agency is Double Jeopardy in itself, if the commitment was satisfied by time served in jail!
