I periodically order a copy of my credit report from myfico.com and try to keep a watchful eye on my information.in May I ordered a copy and somehow inadvertently signed up for freecreditreport.com membership with a recurring monthly charge. I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't keep a closer eye on my checking account: (Now, here it is October and I discover that I was charged $30-something in May, then a recurring $17.95 June, July, Aug, Sept and Oct. I had no idea what the charge was for when I discovered it so I called the bank and they immediately said "looks like you've been taken by freecreditreport.com, they run a very deceptive business." The bank gave me the toll free number to FreeCreditReport because she said they make it very difficult to find it on their website. I called and got a young man who super-politely told me that they would refund one month but that's all because I had logged in to their site twice and used the service. What actually happened is that I received emails from them saying "your credit report is ready to view" in which I clicked the link and entered the site looking for my credit report! Anyway, please be careful with this company. There is information all over the net about them—very deceptive, sneaky, unethical, shady business.
