Individual selling on Craigslist.
Modus Operandi: Claims son killed in Afghanistan 2 months ago. I'm a Vet, just went to a funeral for soldier KIA in OEF. This pisses me off!
I know its a scam because:
-the price was too good to be true. Scammers price was $1600. Should have been closer to $2300 to $2500 and that would have been a good deal.
- I found no press releases or information on Faces Of the Fallen database that indicate a soldier name James, age 29 was KIA within the past 2 months. When a soldier dies there are tons of press releases.
-scammer posted ad in several major cities
-claims to not be able to meet and needs to set up transaction through ebay. Asks for my full name and address.
-offers some kind of guarantee that my payment through paypal is 100% protected.
- spells own name 2 different ways.
-grammar and spelling poor (I think it's a scammer overseas)
- I ask for phone #, provides this # 406-564-4340. But warns me that it has been disconnected due to lack of payment.
-drops the sale when I ask probing questions
- google search shows others potential buyers with similar concerns
Dont buy from this person
