I responded to an ad for a $700 21.5" iMac on Craigslist (Milwaukee, WI). It was such a good deal... (Red Flag #1)
The seller was under the name Jessica Globerman (jessica. [email protected]) but she was "now in Vancouver, BC" (Red Flag #2). She was very convincing... Claims she got the iMac as a bonus from work and didn't need it, she sent more pictures when I requested them, she answered almost all my questions. It was not like the obvious scammers who have a long sob story and horrible grammar.
When I asked how the transaction would take place now that she was out of the county (RED FLAG!), she suggested Interparcel (Red Flag #3). Because I'd never heard of it, I researched and found Interparcel to be a real company HOWEVER payments had to be made using Western Union. (Red Flag #4!! Beware deals involving Western Union!) There's lots of other similar scams out there where the scammer uses Emily or Alissa (or variants).
Be careful out there! Don't lose your hard earned money to these people. It makes me sick.
Ps. I felt a little bad ass sending my "Hell no, scammer!" email to her/him/them once I discovered the truth. ;)
