Wyndham Resorts
Consumer Report

My wife and I are time-share owners with Wyndham Resorts. We have been for a number of years now. Everytime we go on vacation they set up a little meeting to see how things are going.

During these meetings they always attempt to sell us more time. We've pretty much quit going to these little get togethers because of this. At the beginning of the year, while on a stay in Tennessee we were told at one of these meetings that if we sign up for this Wyndham Rewards credit cards and used it to pay all our bills that we would be able to eliminate our maintenance fees.

I don't know if you're familiar witrh time-shares or not, but you buy the week or a certain amount of points then you own it every year. But there's also a maintenance fee you have to pay in order to use the time you own. So you pay thousands to buy it (one time), then hundreds a month to maintain it.

It's not good deal. But once you're in you can't get out, unless you just give it away. And some people do just that.

It's one of those things that just looks better than it is. It's nice if you have lots of money. You can even pass it down to your kids. You can sell it, but there aren't really any buyers out there. I'd sell mine in a heart beat simply for what I owe if I could find a buyer.

But anyway, at this meet6ing we were told that "Wyndham Rewards Points" would pay for our maintenance fees from now on. So that once the ownership is paid for, we wouldn't have to be paying anything anymore. We would just be able to enjoy the Resort that we own. Great deal, right?

That's what I thought. Problem is that in order to get the Wyndham Rewards Card we would have to purchase additional time-share points with the company.

That's not good. That's not good at all but in time that would be paid for and the maintenance fees would be gone and by that time we'd be retired and everything would be paid and maintenance fees elimated.

We decided to go for it. We signed up and started paying for everything we bought through this card. Then when the details came rolling in, the points generated by the
Wyndhamn Rewards Card didn't equal the maintenance fees. It didn't even come close.

So we were lied to about the points it generated.

And now we're stuck not only with the maintenance fees as before but also the additional time-share "time or points" that we had to purchase in order to find out this lesson.

And as a bonus the maintenance fees went up because now we have more time-share points to pay maintenance fees on.

I can't even use all the time we have to go on vacation because I can't afford to miss work that long. I have to pay for all the time-shares we've already purchased.

I'd love to unload them all, but that's another story. That purchase in April was based on what I honestly feel was an intensionally misleading sales pitch and REALLY and outright LIE.

I called them back and they said they can't do anything and I should call Corporate. So I did. Corporate said that if I was lied to then they could chaange it back. But I'd have to find it in writing that they promised my maintenance fees would be taken care of.

I really feel like that's the angle they go for in the sales pitch.
"ELIMINATE MAINTENANCE FEES"... But don't leave a paper trail. Don't write it down on anything.

I don't know how they sleep at night. They rob people blind and don't even blink. I don't trust them as far as I could throw them.

At the moment I don't know what else to do, so I went online searching for any type of consumer protection agency out there. This was the first one to pop up.

I really need help and there's even more to the story. There's another chapter but it's sreparate and I can fill you in on it later. It also involves lying.

I fell like if they had been honest with me in the first place we would not be here today.

Now that we know the truth, the very least they could and should do is cancel that contract. That's the very least.
