I read a report identical to what just happened to me. It was a credit card company that had access to my cell number and they called it every single day, but I was unable to return the call to see who it was. Finally, I picked up the phone to actually speak to who kept calling my cell number and a very pleasant woman informed me she was going to help me improve my credit by offering me a credit card $2500 limit and include a GATEWAY computer... But I would need to pay a one time fee of $354.00 by Oct. 1.
I was dumb enough to give her all my personal info including my bank and routing number, Drivers license number. After I hung up with her I had second thoughts about what I signed up for. I called the customer service line and the voice automated machine answers "Customer Service"... Does not give the name of the company, nor did I ever get to speak to a representative. I went online to search for a website and found nothing. I called my bank immediately and they are putting a stop payment before it is taken from my account. WHEW~
