This guy has a scam that's hard to beat. He is older and his exwife has a mental problem.instead of putting her into an assisted living facility where she can be looked after, he rents her homes in nice areas and totally screws the landlords! How? They show up as a 'couple', he tells you some sob story about how he went into the hospital and almost lost his leg and how he was in the exotic car business and how his ex-wife used to be rich and well off and the whole nine yards to make you feel like they're just a couple of older, slightly incapacitated harmless people... WRONG.
Bill never tells you that his ex-wife Cookie is off her rocker and shouldn't be signing a lease because she doesn't handle any of the money HE DOES, but HE DOESN'T sign the lease! And Bill will tell you not to use a lawyer (first red flag) for a simple rental and he will go to the staionery store and buy a lease form... (should've been my second red flag). So, she signs the lease provided by Coldwell Banker, moves in and that's that. When you ask what address to send the bank form for the deposit, he tells you to 'Cookie' at your rental house... Only she NEVER picks up the mail, he does! And guess what, he mails back the bank form (now this will take a few weeks out of the 30 days you're allowed) and tells you to mail it to HIM... Even though he's picked that very same envelope up before in HER mailbox. All this to exceed the 30 days.
After that, he gets to keep the deposit LIKE HE DID TO TWO PRIOR LANDLORDS so I found out! She trashes the house, he doesn't pay the rent (he never signed the lease so guess what?) and then you have to take him to court to get the rent (I did this 3 times!) He has done this at least 3 other times before and he has a lien against him for $13,000.00 from the prior landlord with whom I spoke! Plus he scams all kinds of businesses in the area and has lawsuits against him from them as well. Old con artist... Beware. Do not rent to them under any circumstances. I almost lost my house after I lost my job and am still paying the lawyers.
