In early june i opened a cd account to secure a secured american express card product offered by usaa bank. I also opened a checking account and savings account. Several weeks later i went to use my debit card and it was declined at the store. I tried my secured american express card and it too was also declined. I went online to check on my accounts and was locked out and told to call an 800 number. I was infomed that usaa elected to close my accounts and that they had up to 14 days to return all the funds back to me.in later conversations and a follow up they gave a partial reason for the closure that i had a previous account or relationship with them over 10 years ago. I informed them that i did not have an account with them and that they needed to investigate the source of there information. They stated they would but would need more time and would continue to hold my funds until the investigation was complete pending favorable results.in any case they are violating the statue of limitations on trying to collect on an old charged off account. They are holding my money and holding me responsible for someone elses account or a software or computer identity error without first verifying such.
