In December I purchased a five year extended warranty for my Nikon s8000 from Safco Warranty Service through Electrobrands.com. March 10th my zoom/wide angle function stopped working other than that the camera worked perfectly. It took two weeks of emails to finally get Safco to provide me with return instructions for repair. They received the camera on March 23. I was told it would take 4-8 weeks for repair.in mid May I started calling to check status on the repairs. They claimed it had been sent to Nikon for repairs and they had not received it back yet. I started calling weekly and was not able to get any information on the status.in mid June they promised to find out specifics on the repair and would contact me with the information. I never heard back so I finally filed a compaint with an Arkansas Consumer Protection Dept., and they received response from safco claiming the camera had physical damage, a dent in the lens, and physical damage was not covered. Suddenly physical damage??? Physical damage had NEVER been mentioned until I filed a complaint. Also, Nikon showed they had only recieved the camera in mid may, that corresponded with the beginning of my many inquiries at 8 weeks in to the repair time. Now, not only does my camera have the original problem of no zoom/wide angle, now it has additional physical damage that renders it useless. That damage did not exist when the camera was sent in. If nothing else comes of this complaint, at least other consumer can be aware.
