Avoid working for them!

I worked for this company for three years. The startup costs were very expensive and took a while to break even. After I finally had worked a few months and recovered my startup cost and started making some money the job started to look promising. I was getting to stay home with my son and work from home a huge plus. But there were still monthly fees to them and I was having to travel to pick up my work and the quality of the tapes they wanted me to transcribe began to get worse and worse. They started making more and more rules which made it harder and harder to make money. It was taking longer and longer to get my work done and I was getting less and less money.

Then they made big changes in their company and I had to fork over a couple hundred more from my paychecks to them to pay for these changes. I had no choice in the matter. They went digital which was nice because I didn't have to travel to pick up the tapes but then they dropped the price per page which made a dent in my paycheck.in order for me to make what I was previously making I had to increase my workload. There were constant changes being made and rule after rule. Employees from their started dropping like flies. I was self-employed working for them yet they told me when I was allowed time off and how much time off I was allowed. They tell you that you can have off 20 days a year. That sounds great until you have to put in for 10 of those days off a year in advance and they make the decision on who gets what days off from a seniority list.

After three years of working there I still never got a single day off around the holidays that I requested because I didn't have seniority. Not sure how long I needed to work there to get that seniority. For being self-employed I sure had no say, but I sure got to pay the taxes at the end of the year. They found out I had a Facebook page and started monitoring it. I had to block the owners and others from he office staff. I had to make my page completely private to keep them out of my personal business. I never shared any client information on my page and so therefore they had no business on my page. There were some very nice employees that worked at the office and then there were a few that were nightmares. I never did get to meet the owners, they always seemed to be away when I was there at the office. The whole reason I started working there was so that I could be a stay-at-home mom but still bring in an income. The paychecks became smaller and smaller and the hours became longer and longer and I was getting to spend less and less time with my son. The job became not worth it to me anymore and I resigned.
