I was involved in an accident on June 8 and my van was too damaged to drive so it was towed to to Pinellas Autobody (the police investigating the accident called this company).
The shop had the car from June 8 until yesterday when they called and told me it was ready to be picked up. When I got there I saw that a needlepoint picture which had been laying on the floor at the back of the van had disappeared. Nothing else in the van was missing. I brought this to their attention, they took a quick look around in the back of their shop, and came back to me and said they couldn't find anything.
I called the shop again today and they told me that a woman came in some time while the van was in the shop and took something out of the van — they thought it was me. It wasn't. They say they have a camera on these autos 24/7 and if that is the case then they should have a picture of the person they say came and got something out of the van. I paid these people $3200 to fix a tire on my car and yet, I am not even being give the courtesy of having anyone make an effort to find my needlepoint.
At one time they told me there was a young guy who was mentally deficient who cleaned out the interiors of cars — vacuuming, etc. Today, when I reminded them that this person may have just accidentally put the needlepoint in the wrong car, they said there was no young man working on these cars - another lie. I don't know what my recouse is or even if I have any.
